Camano Island, WA is a beautiful place to vacation and live, but their Chamber of Commerce’s aging website wasn’t doing all it should to promote the area. They needed a complete redesign that took advantage of modern web technologies to virtualize area businesses, facilitate member services, and excite viewers about the prospects of visiting.
We created a fully mobile responsive site that promoted Camano Island’s best features while giving local businesses a boost. The client’s redesign initiative was also sensitive to the new challenges that COVID-19 created. In response, we built online functionality to replace many chamber functions that were previously only available in person, making things easier on members and chamber staff.
Optimized the home page for conversion, building a virtual visitor center that offered an email with a local map, a visitor’s guide, directions, and recommendations for things to do in the area in exchange for the prospect’s contact information.
Built a full-featured online calendar with an easy interface for adding area events. The system also automates event management for chamber staff, including sign-up forms, ticketing, data collection, and payment processing.
Created a member directory that allowed visitors to sort businesses alphabetically, by category, or using keywords. By default, the website’s code randomizes the member’s display order so that everyone gets a chance to appear at the top. We designed a simple backend that makes it easy for chamber staff to add new members.
Added a member services section that gives members quick access to important documents and information. This included a document browser. Adding new files to the page is as simple as uploading them to Google Drive. No coding or link building necessary.
Designed functionality allowing people to apply for and renew memberships, subscriptions, and make payments through the site. Payments are implemented using Stripe, a third party, PCI-compliant payment processor that stores payment data securely, removing the need for our client to store sensitive information.
Host and administer the site in the cloud. We make sure plugins and scripts are kept current and periodically optimize images and cache. We design new pages when requested as well as provide support.
